A rare gem. That’s what St. Joe’s is. We are a faithful community of teachers, learners and families who work hand in hand to provide the best possible educational experience for our students. But even more than that, we all care deeply for one another and are bonded through both faith and a sincere desire to use God’s gifts to inspire, encourage, and enrich our students’ lives. I absolutely love working here and am blessed everyday seeing the staff, administration, and our priest Father Gary making personal connections with each and every student as they are cheered on to success.
Spencer Malley is a native of Bristol, CT and a 2019 graduate of the University of Connecticut. While at UConn, he earned both a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education. He earned his Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction, with a music concentration, in May 2022. He has held positions as the Music Teacher and Choir Director at both Catholic Academy of Waterbury in Waterbury, CT and Saint John the Evangelist School in Watertown, CT. Since beginning formal music lessons around age 10, Spencer’s love of music has always been rooted in Jesus Christ, and His Church. Sally Kish, his lifetime mentor and dear friend, had much to do with that. Spencer had been making music with Sally at Saint Matthew Church in Forestville, CT since age 8, and she knew he had both a deep love and a gift for liturgical music. Previously, Spencer has held Music Director positions at Saint Luke Church in Hartford, CT, Saint Augustine Church in Hartford, CT, Saint Matthew Church in Forestville, CT, and most recently at Mary Our Queen Church in Southington, CT. Making music with the people of God is Spencer’s greatest love. He is very grateful to belong to the Saint Joseph family.
